#Plus 3

Behind this Window (Variant #1)

I was waiting for your call,
waited for hours with desire,
curious looking at this window,
like at a painting in the Louisana.
I saw a child running across the meadow,
chasing a cat and laughing at me.
Or did I just make that up?

Your voice on the phone,
I won’t tremble, but my heart stumbles.
Your world conquers mine easily.
While I listen and my eyes wander
the sun flickers over my afternoon.
O, this bird, is he really mocking that cat?
Or did I just make that up?

You want me to talk to you,
but how could I dare, my dear,
me with this little life behind that window?
All right, I’ll paint you a picture:
Of the bird and the cat and the laughing child.
And then l hear you say: „I love you.“
Or did I just make that up?

And the wind blows a mask through the air.

Behind this Window (Variant #2)

I was waiting for your call
and almost went bananas
while looking at the mall,
like at a painting in the Louisana’s.
I saw a child gliding across the sea,
chasing a cat and laughing at me.
Or did I just make that up?

Your voice on the phone,
makes my heart stumble
I’m no longer alone
watching my world crumble.
The sun flickers over our little chat.
O, this bird, is he really mocking that cat?
Or did I just make that up?

You insist on me talking to you,
but how could I dare, my dear,
me with this little life and no clue?
All right, I’ll paint you a picture of my fear:
Of the bird and the cat and the child, too.
And then l hear you say: „I love you.“
Or did I just make that up?

And the wind blows a mask through the air.
